TUNCAY TOPCU

Her türlü düzen düşüncesinin baltalandığı, otomatizmle güdülenen Tuncay Topcu'nun resimlerinde tutkuyla karışık lirik bir trajedi yaşanır. Bu yaşanan trajedinin mit'i olarak ağırlaşan renklerle logosferi bozan ve temsile mesafe getiren bir yaklaşım sergilenir. Hatta bilineni bilinmez kılma çabasıyla içsel bir dünyaya dair-yansımaya yenik düşmeyen yeni bir bilinen sentezin, ki, tam bu noktada Mark ROTHKO'nun vurgusuna başvurmak yerinde olacaktır. "Resimlerimi birer dram olarak düşünürüm (..) Ne olaylar ne de oyuncular önceden tahmin edilebilir. Bilinmeyen bir uzamda bilinmeyen bir serüven olarak başlarlar. Tamamlandıkları anda bir tanıma ışıması olur, şimşek aydınlığında bir tanıma, işte o zaman resmin amaçlanan işlev ve niceliği ulaştığı sezilir. Başlangıçtaki fikirler ve planlar, birer çıkış kapısıdır sadece: Fikirlerin ve planların dünyasından çıkılmazı sağlayan kapılar."

Tuncay Topcu is an artist who tastes the privilege of losing himself in the infinite depths of the colors. In his paintings, leaving their place to a world that has no limits and no time, on the surface of the canvas the material life and the moment lived bask in the infinity, limitlessness and the very freedom that is hard to capture within the course of our daily lives. The estrangement from the classical forms of nature is may be an outcome of the subject populism and the desire to experience a much more difficult but yet a much deeper interaction with the viewer rather than establishing a fast and easy bond. In truth what he actually does is to decompose the nature we know and re-present it to us on an abstract plane formed by color surfaces supported by lines.
